School Speeches!

Coming up is our school speeches, we have to choose a topic to persuade someone about something. My choice was to persuade people to give duck shooting a try, down below is my speech, if you haven't tried duck shooting then I recommend givng it a go!!

Beating last year's tally is all the motivation I need to wake up at a ridiculous hour on a frosty foggy duck shooting opening morning. Hi my name is Brooke and in my opinion duck shooting is something you should try! So on opening morning as I said we wake up at a ridiculous hour! 3.30am to be exact! We jump into a million layers of dark green, cosy goodness and then I cover this gorgeous face in thick camouflage face paint. Chuck on my gumboots at the door then off we all head in the pitch black to the maimai for an awesome day of fun. I'm here to persuade you to give duck shooting a shot (literally if you ever get the chance)! It's a super good opportunity to learn how to shoot a gun and just experience an awesome opening duck shooting weekend. Some of my favourite memories in the mai mai are watching the sun rise while eating handfuls of lollies and treats for breakfast with Sophia and my cousin Rocco.

There’s definitely no fruit or veggies to be found! Another  funny memory was the time when our mai mai fully fell to 1 side completely out of the blue, the floor gave way and everyone got the biggest fright my two uncles tried to act like it didn’t scare them but trust me I saw their faces! Then we had to find an old bit of wood to secure it all back up. That kept us giggling for the rest of the day. It is also a really good social occasion, you get to meet with friends and family you may not have seen in a while, thank you very much lockdown. You get to learn from family members who have the same interest as you. It’s a good old catch-up with my uncles, between them and dad I get all the theories, tips and tricks I need to one day outshine them on opening morning. Collecting the ducks is SO much fun! When we have a bit of a slow spot we get the dog and he fetches us the ducks that aren’t too far out. When we have finished duck shooting we get out the dingy and get all the ducks that were too far for the dog. In the end we count all the ducks and usually get a total of about 100. So for all these reasons, the fun, the food, the company, the laughs and don’t forget the ducks duck shooting is the best fun! You should give it a quack!
