This week my class had its school camp, we range from ages 10 - 13. Our group of 34 kids were going to be heading to Wainui / Akaroa. We arrived at school on Monday at 8:15am, a bit earlier than usual. A massive bus was parked outside loading in all the gear people had packed. There was lots of suitcases and bags full of clothes and even if it took us a long time we managed to pack everything and make the 5 hour trip to Wainui, NZ. We did some super fun activities at the Wainui YMCA holiday ground we stayed at. On Tuesday my group of 9 did high - ropes and later in the day we did kayaking. On Wednesday we went to Akaroa and we had a look around their lovely little town and their amazing lighthouse. Thursday was my favourite day, our group was going to be doing archery and coasteering. Archery was super fun we played lots of cool games and we also just did some practise, even if I didn't hit a bullseye I did try. Lastly coasteering, we had to get into wetsuits and put on helmets and then the fun had started. We found some shark eggs and we were pushed backwards into water. We jumped from very high rocks one which was 11 metres high, but that was optional because scary cats like me didn't want to do it. Also on Thursday night we had a campfire, where we sang silly songs and made s'mores. On Friday it was a long drive back, but in the end it was an amazing experience and even if I came out of my comfort zone I'll admit I did still love it. In the future you should visit the Wainui YMCA camp and have a go at everything, it'll really boost your confidence.
